About

I am a Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse. I never imagined a career in nursing, but when my first child was born with unexplained developmental challenges I felt an ignorance and powerlessness that ultimately led me to pursue nursing. When I began working in the ICU, I was shocked to learn how often medical care diverges from or ignores patients' best interest.
Before becoming a nurse, I studied the philosophy of medicine at the University of Chicago. I've always been fascinated by the culture of medicine, and my experiences as a nurse and a mother have shaped my perspective on medicine's role in our lives. Most of my writing is on these subjects. I live in Connecticut with my husband, two daughters, and a bunny.
